very early, shower and get all gussied up for the big picture. Grammi and Grampi arrived at 7:30 and we headed over the river and through the traffic. We got our usual front row spot in the Pioneer Place garage and walked through the vacant mall and up to Meier and Frank. When we got to the tenth floor, the kids bounded off the elevator and into Santaland to look at all the sights.
We didn't have long to wait, as Santa arrived right on time at 8:30. The kids got a few rounds on the monorail before getting back in line to sit on the old guys lap. Just before it was their turn, a young couple had just taken their turn on Santa's lap when the young guy pulled out a ring, got down on one knee and asked the girl to marry him. Santa broke down in tears, as did the rest of the crowd (including mom and I) then everyone cheered. When the kids got up to Santa, they had lots to tell him about their year. Each asked for one gift and thanked him profusely for last
year's gifts. As they walked away, Santa repeated the requests, in case I didn't know, with a little wink. We left Meier and Frank, with a little twinge of sadness, as it may be the last year for this tradition because Macy's has bought them out. We walked on up to Finnigan's Toy store and spent over an hour browsing. It's just as hard to get my dad and Jonathan out, as it is the kids. We ended our day with some time looking around Pioneer Place. We finally got our tree up and some lights up on the
house. We did get a little snow, not too much, but enough to get all dressed up in warm clothes (oh yes, and swim goggles--go figure) and play outside. It's kind of an odd holiday season for us, in light of my dear little God Sister's (Jamie) condition. We are just keeping her and all those around her in our prayers and ask that you do the same. This is tough on all her family and friends.
